Hotel Solar do Império - Our Wedding Venue

Exclusive for our wedding guests

We have arranged for our wedding guests to exclusively stay at Hotel Solar do Império, where our reception will take place. Staying at the hotel would greatly help us reduce our wedding costs, although this is entirely optional.

Required Stay: 2 nights minimum (October 10-12, 2025)

About Petrópolis

Petrópolis, also known as the Imperial City, is about 1.5 hours by car from Rio de Janeiro. It is a charming and safe destination, full of history, with elegant architecture, museums, and beautiful natural landscapes.

Getting Here

The nearest airport is Galeão International Airport (GIG) in Rio. Once all guests confirm their attendance, we will plan a convenient way to organize transportation between Rio and Petrópolis to make the journey easier for everyone.

Important Information

Visa Requirements

U.S. citizens will need a visa to enter Brazil starting April 10, 2025. This applies to tourists. U.S. airline or ship crew members will also need a visa starting July 10, 2024.

Weather

October in Petrópolis is spring, with average temperatures between 15°C-25°C (59°F-77°F). Light jackets recommended for evenings.

Currency

The local currency is Brazilian Real (BRL). Major credit cards are widely accepted, but having some cash is recommended for small purchases and tips. We highly recommend exchanging in Brazil, at the airport, given that the exchange fees are lower than if you were to exchange in the U.S.

Local Transportation

The historic center of Petrópolis is walkable. Taxis and ride-sharing services are readily available.
